Austin firm receives international green building award for the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center admissions kiosk
(Austin, Texas) September 3, 2014 – Sanders Architecture, an Austin design firm, today announced that it was honored with a 2014 Green Dot Award in the build-public category for the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center admissions kiosk. This marks the firm’s first international honor and second award for the Ladybird Johnson Wildflower Center admissions kiosk.
“Sanders Architecture is committed to producing thoughtful, purpose-driven designs that respect the natural environment, “ said founder and principal architect of Sanders Architecture, Christopher L. Sanders, AIA. “This award is an acknowledgment of that commitment, and we’re honored to be included among this year’s recipients.”
Green Dot Awards are reserved for businesses that achieve exceptional standards in environmentally sustainable practices. In the build category specifically, winning structures must utilize sustainable materials, while exemplifying innovative design solutions. The kiosk’s sustainable features include a green roof and wall irrigated with condensate water, recyclable steel components and a solar photovoltaic shade awning that powers 67 percent of the buildings’ annual energy needs.
