Architectural Designer
“Buildings should do more than fulfill basic functions, such as shelter and safety; thoughtful designs call on our higher selves to create beauty and meaning in a structure.” – Emily Kettlewell
Inspired by the landscape in which her creations live, Emily draws from environmental cues to capture the best qualities of a site and apply them to the architecture being created. Drawing from context is an important part of designing a cohesive and articulated building, and Emily helps the design team in generating construction documents that realize these intents.
Emily holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Texas at Austin. In addition, her certification as a LEED Green Associate by the U.S. Green Building Council reflects her understanding of the most current green building principles and practices. Prior to joining Sanders Architecture in 2013, Emily interned at the Austin Design Collaborative.
Supporting Boy Scouts of America Capitol Area Council on a pro bono basis, Emily helped design and produce construction documents for a bathhouse pavilion that is currently under construction at the Lost Pines Boy Scout Camp near Bastrop, Texas.
The overlook at the “360 Bridge,” with its view of the arched steel bridge and Lake Austin, is a treasured place for this Houston native.
